Troops of the Commando Brigade, under the command of the 98th Division, are operating in the Khan Yunis area in the southern Gaza Strip as part of Operation 'Gideon’s Chariots'.

As part of the offensive activity in the area and in cooperation with Yahalom soldiers, the troops located and dismantled an underground tunnel route, approximately one kilometer in length, based on intelligence that indicated the presence of underground Hamas infrastructure in the area.

During searches conducted in the tunnel area prior to its dismantling, the troops identified several terrorists who had barricaded themselves inside the tunnel and eliminated them.

The tunnel route was used by the Hamas terrorist organization for terror activity, cynically exploiting civilian infrastructure in the area where it was located.

The IDF continues to operate against terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip in order to protect the civilians of the State of Israel.
