The Activity of the Shaldag Unit: Dozens of Operations, Complex Activities and Discovery of Weapons in the Areas of Hospitals in Gaza
The Shaldag Unit has been taking part in the ground operation in Gaza and has been operating with the various IDF units against the Hamas terrorist organization prior to the operational pause. Soldiers from the Shaldag Unit have conducted operational activity in the area of the Shifa Hospital, where they located weapons and terrorist infrastructure used by Hamas in the hospital, including: weapons, ammunition, grenades, military equipment disguised in medical containers, and anti-tank explosives. In the long and complex activity at the Shifa Hospital, the soldiers used advanced technologies in the underground tunnel routes and located a tunnel shaft. This tunnel shaft reveals the route of terror tunnels under the hospital.
The Shaldag Unit has been fully active since the beginning of the war, both inside Israel and Gaza. On Saturday, October 7th, during Hamas' invasion and brutal massacre in communities in southern Israel, soldiers of the Shaldag Unit were deployed to the area and reached Kibbutz Be’eri. They operated for long hours to neutralize terrorists in the kibbutz and rescue residents under attack. During the days that followed, they fought at close quarters against terrorists in a number of locations in southern Israel, including Kibbutz Be’eri, Alumim and Re'im. During those battles, the soldiers fought with determination and initiated contact, eliminated dozens of terrorists and rescued dozens of civilians.
