The Chief of General Staff: "We will not stop until we capture all the terrorists involved in the October 7th Massacre and bring all the hostages home."
After a determined and prolonged pursuit that lasted an entire year, our forces eliminated Yahya Sinwar, the main perpetrator behind the murderous October 7th Massacre who was responsible for the deaths and abduction of many Israelis. I just met with the troops that eliminated him yesterday during an encounter in the Rafah area. The troops acted correctly, with professionalism and determination—not because they knew Sinwar was there, but because our soldiers excel in every encounter with terrorists, in all sectors. The actions of the IDF, the ISA, the Southern Command, the Intelligence Directorate (J2), and the Israeli Air Force over the past year drove Sinwar to act like a fugitive, causing him to change locations multiple times. Despite this, it did not help him. The boldness, determination, and bravery of IDF troops operating in all arenas led us to him and brought about his end. We said we would get to him, and indeed, we got to him. The world is now a better place without him. Israel will continue to pursue and eliminate anyone who threatens the civilians of the State of Israel. We will not stop until we capture all the terrorists involved in the October 7th Massacre and bring all the hostages home. In the past year, many have paid a heavy price in this pursuit—some fell in battle, and others were injured. The elimination of Sinwar is also a victory thanks to them. We remember the fallen and embrace their families. We wish a speedy recovery to the wounded and hope for the return of the hostages. We hold great appreciation for the IDF commanders and soldiers in all sectors, who even at this moment are bravely defending us. We will continue to defend the State of Israel with all our strength.
