MAG's Message

The Military Advocate General (“MAG”) has been an integral part of the IDF since the IDF’s founding, in 1948. Since the early days of the unit, and up until today, the MAG has operated to ensure the IDF can fulfill its purpose - to protect the state of Israel and defeat its enemies, while upholding the rule of law.

The purpose of this website is to provide a glimpse of the MAG’s extensive activity - to present the unit and its component bodies, and to publicize useful information by way of making databases, laws and guidance papers accessible.

Today’s MAG is part of a structure built well by the officers who served in the unit over the years, many of whom integrated after their service into central positions in the legal profession in the state of Israel. Knowing and learning the history of the Military Advocate General is critical to understanding the challenges of the present and preparing for the challenges of tomorrow; those facing the MAG, the IDF, and Israeli society at large.
