The Indonesian Hospital, opened in 2015 near Jabaliya, is the largest hospital in the northern Gaza Strip. It is one of the hospitals that the Hamas terrorist organization exploits to hide behind sick civilians while operating terrorist infrastructure. The hospital serves as a meeting place for planning attacks and as a base for senior officials and operatives of Hamas. It contains extensive terrorist infrastructure, including nearby tunnel shafts leading to an underground tunnel network in the hospital area.

The Indonesian Hospital functions as the strategic underground center for Hamas’ Jabaliya Battalion. During the war, armed Nukhba operatives were observed at the hospital, using it as a gathering point before carrying out attacks.

Shifa Hospital is one of the most established hospitals in Gaza City. But for Hamas, it’s a central terror hub. Throughout the war, the IDF has uncovered dozens of meters of tunnels built beneath the hospital, discovered weapons hidden in the MRI complex and maternity wards, and even found that hostages were held captive within the hospital.

The use of a civilian structure, particularly an active hospital, is further proof of Hamas’s cynical and systematic practice of exploiting civilian infrastructure as manned terror command posts. By doing so, Hamas knowingly endangers the lives of patients, medical staff, and innocent civilians in the area.
