Leading a Team Inside a Tank
Soldiers in the IDF’s Armored Corps hold a large variety of positions. Tanks alone have a commander, loader, gunner, and driver. The corps also includes reconnaissance forces and infantry soldiers that serve in combat support companies that accompany the tanks during battles. Obtaining one of these positions takes eight months of hard training.

The Armored Corps’ renowned 7th Brigade, which operates in the Northern Command, uses Merkava Mark IV tanks.
Sgt. Victor, who serves as a tank commander in the 7th Brigade, sees his soldiers as more than just a team. “A tank isn’t just a combat tool, it’s a home, it’s a fortress with four people, four friends - a family. A family that always has each other’s backs and supports each other.”
For Sgt. Victor, this is more than just a metaphorical family; he actually wanted to become a tank commander because that’s what his grandfather had done too. “My grandfather was a tank commander, it’s really important to me and I’m proud of him, and, therefore, I wanted to carry on his legacy”
“It’s mainly the sense of mission, responsibility, respect, and credibility. These are the central values that the world stands for in my opinion. You have to fight for what you believe in, and I'm willing to fight for what's important to me. I know why, for whom, for what I do what I do.”
